Frequently asked questions
Students have the incredible opportunity to spend half of their 3 weeks at the first location and the other half of their 3 weeks at the second location, based on what campus they pick.
CISS International staff, in clearly marked uniform holding a visible sign, will meet all students at the specific airport. Remember, your son/daughter must arrive within the scheduled time at the designated airport for them to be taken by bus with our staff to campus. More information can be found here.
CISS International Counsellors hold an Opening Day Induction and will be on hand to help students settle in.
CISS International takes safety very seriously. To help accomplish this goal, CISS International has strict policies and procedures in place, 24/7 supervision available, and Counsellors that welcome and remain with students for the duration of their stay in a city. CISS International implements a struct check-in and curfew time, with multiple check-ins throughout the day in addition. CISS International’s staff spend a huge amount of time with their students – and are on hand breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between! Counsellors are available at night and live on-site accommodation in same-gender areas. CISS International wants to make sure your son/daughter feels safe at all times – after all, this is a key way to ensure students have a fantastic experience.
CISS International knows that you may need different items for the Adventure versus Classic course, and for your particular Academic Stream. CISS International sends this information to you in their Info Pack after you have been accepted. Their Info Pack has lots of information, including what to pack, travel information, clothing, Adventure vs Classic packing, and Academic packing – and lots more.
Please take your time to go through the pack and make sure you have everything on their checklists so that you’re ready to go!
Yes – students will need to have comprehensive travel and medical insurance in place before they arrive
In the majority of cases, CISS International provides shared rooms between two students, who are a similar or the same age and will be the same gender. They have separate areas for each gender and a Counsellor is available should there be anything students want to talk about at night.
In some cases, there are limited single rooms available and students will be updated as to their availability. These rooms cannot be guaranteed to any particular student. Students with medical disabilities will be prioritised for these rooms.
CISS International’s summer schools help students form genuine international friendships.
To this end, CISS International does not allow students to stay with people they know before coming to the summer school. This approach helps students to integrate well and make friends with people they spend a lot of time with.
CISS International was created to inform and keep student’s future pathways open – not closed. That’s why CISS International will never ask for grades or other educational criteria for their Summer Schools. Their Academic Streams and Social Program are designed to help a student to grow the CISS Mindset regardless of grades.
What CISS International do ask for is evidence that students meet their minimum English Language criteria. This is put in place to help make sure students can benefit from their English-taught course, and due to Government regulations.
