Travel Guidance for the 2025 CISS international’ Summer Programme

Do You Need a VISA?

  • Check Your Requirements: Visit the official websites to determine if you require a VISA for travel to the US (TRAVEL.STATE.GOV) or the UK (GOV.UK).

  • Online Form Assistance:
    • US VISA: Fill out the online form as follows:
      • Country/Authority: Select your passport issuing country.
      • Travel Purpose: Choose “Study or Exchange”.
      • Activity in the US: Select “Short not-for-credit course or recreational program”.
    • UK VISA: Fill out the online form as follows:
      • Nationality: Select your nationality.
      • Purpose of Visit: Choose “Study”.
      • Study Duration: Select “6 months or less”.

What Type of VISA Do You Need?

US Courses:

  • ESTA (if applicable): If your nationality is on the Visa Waiver Program list, an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) might be sufficient. Check the official US website for details.
  • Visitor Visa: If you don’t qualify for ESTA, you’ll need a Visitor Visa.

UK Courses:

  • Standard Visitor Visa: This visa allows participation in short courses like those offered by CISS International.

CISS International’s Support

  • Letters of Acceptance: We provide Letters of Acceptance to support your VISA application.
  • VISA Processing: While we can’t process VISAs ourselves, we’re happy to answer your questions and guide you through the process.

Practicalities of the VISA Process

  • Application Timeline: Apply for your VISA at least 3 months (90 days) before your flight to avoid delays.
  • Informing CISS International: Notify us once you apply for your VISA. We’ll then email you a Letter of Support.
  • VISA Costs: Please refer to the official websites (TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or GOV.UK) for current fees.

Required Travel Documentation

  • Letter of Acceptance: Ensure your child carries this document during travel.
  • Parental Consent Form (if applicable): Carry this form if traveling without parents/guardians (regardless of age).

Additional Support

  • Contact Your Local VISA Authority: For the most up-to-date VISA information, contact your nearest embassy or high commission.
  • CISS International’s Guidance: After receiving your Letter of Acceptance, we’ll provide a VISA application guide.
  • Agent Support: If you applied through an agent, they will guide you through the application process.
